Awards
AIA Iowa is host to the premier architectural design awards programs.
To recognize excellence in design, AIA Iowa offers several award programs. For each award a jury of respected professionals from within the architecture and design communities meet to recognize the finest from within our state. The AIA Iowa Design Award Programs are open to all members of AIA Iowa. If you represent an Iowa Firm and are interested in submitting one of your firm's awards create an account and an AIA Iowa representative will review your request and contact you.
AIA Iowa Design Awards
Recognizes excellence in architecture projects which are designed by members of AIA Iowa and emphasizes its importance in the community. The jury for this award is comprised of respected professionals from the architectural community, outside the state of Iowa. This award is given out each year at the AIA Iowa Awards Celebration held in conjunction with the Chapter's Annual Convention in September.
AIA Iowa Craft Awards
Recognizes Iowa craftspeople and / or companies who demonstrate particular skill and inventiveness in the execution and incorporation of their craft into the built environment. The entries for this award category focus on the elements or objects from projects of all scales. The jury for this award is comprised of respected professionals from the architectural community, outside the state of Iowa. This award is given out each year at the AIA Iowa Awards Celebration held in conjunction with the Chapter's Annual Convention in September.
25 Year Award
Recognizes longstanding excellence in architecture and emphasizes its importance in the community through recognizing projects that are 25 years but not more than 40 years based the year the award is given. The buildings submitted for consideration mush be located in Iowa. The project must have excellence in function in the distinguished execution of its original program and in the creative aspects of its statement by today's standards. The jury for this award is comprised of respected professionals from the architectural community, outside the state of Iowa. This award is given out only when merited at the AIA Iowa Awards Celebration held in conjunction with the Chapter's Annual Convention in September.
Impact Awards
Recognizes team members including architects, designers, and other collaborators for an architectural project specifically designed to directly benefit social, humanitarian, community or environmental causes. The jury for this award is comprised of respected professionals from the architectural community, outside the state of Iowa. This award is given out each year at the AIA Iowa Spring Conference in April.
